All Things Acting

I was still floating off that invigorating buzz any solid movement class evokes. It was one of those classes where you felt fully immersed in the work, play and flow. I stepped outside of class, immediately embraced by the cool July evening breeze. Life was good. We headed home via Finsbury Park station, my classmate and I (for storytelling purposes we'll call her Claire) were absorbed in the familiar chitchat of all things acting - auditions, goals, classwork...

I listened keenly as she shared exciting details about a callback audition.

Now at the station entrance and ready to part ways, our conversation took another positive step upwards when Claire affirmed 

"At the end of the day I’m in the room and that is what’s important right".

Had I heard this industry phrase before? Of course! Just never stated in a way that jolted me. 

Claire had casually integrated the fact of being ‘in the room’ with an assertive ease that being 'in the room' lends itself to.

Feeling inspired and motivated, I floated all the way home.

That moment serves as a reminder, that being 'in the room' aligns with being 'on the move'.
